Iogear’s Mobile Digital Scribe

leave a comment »

Many note takers today face a choice of either lugging a laptop everywhere or writing everything down by hand and then manually entering their notes into a computer. Meanwhile, if you’re a compulsive doodler or graphic artist, many of your best works may be buried somewhere in the margins of an old notebook.

Iogear’s Mobile Digital Scribe ($130) represents an innovative alternative for note takers and sketchers alike: an ink pen with a digital component. The Digital Scribe comes with a receiver, and it saves everything you write to plain paper as a digital file. When you plug the receiver into a Windows PC, the device lets you upload your handwritten notes and convert them into text documents via the bundled My Script Notes 2.1 Lite optical character recognition (OCR) software.

Transmit Data Through Your Skin Using NTT’s Firmo

leave a comment »

This is not science fiction, but a technology that is readily available to you by NTT. With this device, you can even open your door or locker just by touching it. It’s definitely faster than a swipe card.

The new product, called Firmo, consists of a card-sized transmitter carried in the user’s pocket. The card converts stored data into a weak AC electric field that extends across the body, and when the user touches a device or object embedded with a compatible receiver, the electric field is converted back into a data signal that can be read by the device.

For now, a set of 5 card transmitters and 1 receiver goes for $8,000, but NTT expects the price to come down when mass production begins.

Kiss Me: Halitosis Level Indicator

leave a comment »

Halitosis can be embarrassing. A person with bad breath is always avoided, either when speaking one-to-one or in groups. The bad thing is that nobody will tell you that your mouth smells. It is as bad as that. Though some people maintain the proper oral hygiene, they are still plagued by halitosis. It is embarrassing seeing people turn their heads away when you open your mouth to speak. It shouldn’t be so.

This is where The Kiss Me Personal Bad Breath Detector comes to the rescue. Though Kiss Me doesn’t remove the bad breath, but it can let you know how bad your mouth smells. Kiss Me is simple to operate, just breath on it, and LEDs will light up to indicate just what rank your breath is. Then you will either brush if you are indoors or take some mints if you are out.

This is good news for those that eat garlic a lot. You can check your breath with Kiss Me before stepping out. Kiss Me costs just $19.

Wear Your Keyboard on Your Pants

leave a comment »

This is not a designer’s pants, but a designer’s keyboard. Yeah, a fully functioning keyboard sewn into the fabric of the Jeans. This is a product of designer Erik De Nijs.

This keyboard pants also includes speakers built into the knees, a pocket for mouse storage in the back, and a joy stick controller behind the zipper. This is geek’s madness carried a little bit far.

Give a little time, we will soon be wearing our monitors as spectacles.
